Wisdom Teeth...Do they really need to be removed? At Mckinneydentist.com, we get asked this a lot. If you have ever had pain from wisdom teeth, you are probably asking this question right now and as you know, it is not a pleasant experience.
Wisdom teeth, or 3rd molars, are the teeth located furthest back. In most people’s mouths, there isn't enough room for them to come in and still be cleanable. If you can't clean them, they'll get infected. They also come in sideways, or impacted, more than any other tooth. This creates a situation that can easily get infected, cause the other teeth to shift and crowd, and also can be really bad for the teeth in front of them.
So, we usually advise that our patients to have them removed as early as possible. And yes, when we remove wisdom teeth we do put you to sleep. Our board certified anesthesiologist will make sure you’re comfortably and safely sleeping for the entire procedure. What is a dental Implant?

Simply, it is a man made tooth root that we can build a new tooth or teeth on. When someone looses a tooth, whether we are taking it out or if it’s been gone for a while, we put the implant where the root of that tooth used to be, and then we build the new tooth or teeth on top of it. This gives you a solid, non-moving replacement for the original. It ends up looking like the original, feeling like the original, and working like the original. But, unlike the original, it will never get a cavity!
