Dr Lynch - How Much Time Will I Need To Take Off Work?

About pain following your ESTEEM dental implant treatment, what I can tell you is that it varies from patient to patient. Some people need to do no more than take a couple of Advil or Tylenol afterwards, and they feel great. Other people, who are more sensitive, are going to feel pain for up to 7 to 10 days. It all depends on the individual.

What I can tell you is that if you take our advice and utilize ice, both on your face and in your mouth for the first 3 days, you will reduce the inflammation that you’re going to experience. Inflammation is what can kick in at 72 hours after the procedure, and that is what will cause you the majority of your pain. So, if you keep it really cold for the first 3 days, your pain experience is going to be much less.

I know you’re going to want to know about work and when you can return comfortably. Most people take about three or four days off after the procedure. Then, if you add a couple of days for the weekend, that gives you five or six days. Then, you should be able to go back to work on the following Monday.

Understanding Dental Implants and Recovery Time

Dental implants are a popular and effective solution for replacing missing teeth. They involve a surgical procedure where a titanium post is placed into your jawbone, acting as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth. This post supports a crown, bridge, or denture, mimicking the function and look of natural teeth.

When to Return to Work?

Recovery varies, but many patients are able to return to work within three to four days after the surgery. Planning your surgery just before a weekend can give you additional recovery time without needing extra days off work.

Care for Your Implants

Post-operative care is crucial for the success of your dental implants. Here are a few tips:

  • Maintain good oral hygiene – brush twice a day and floss daily.
  • Avoid smoking, as it can negatively impact the healing process.
  • Stick to soft foods for a few days after surgery to avoid putting pressure on your new implants.
  • Attend all follow-up appointments with your dentist, so they can monitor your healing and the condition of your implant.

With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. They require the same care as natural teeth, including regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups.

At McKinney Dentist, we understand that the decision to get dental implants is significant. Knowing what to expect during the recovery process can help you prepare and ensure a smooth and comfortable healing period.
